Privacy Policy

Who we are
Marquee is software that event venues use to run their business — managing inquiries, tours, events, proposals, contracts, payments, vendors, and messages. This policy explains what personal information Marquee (“we”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers marquee.cafe and the venue sites and desktop/mobile apps it powers.
A note on roles. When a venue uses Marquee to manage its own clients and vendors, the venue decides what data to collect and why (it is the “controller”), and Marquee processes that data on the venue’s behalf (we are its “processor”). If you are a venue’s client or vendor, please also see that venue’s own privacy notice.
Information we collect
- Account information — name, email, and role for venue staff who sign in.
- Customer & vendor records — information a venue enters or receives: contact names, emails, phone numbers, event details, notes, proposals, contracts, and messages.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.
- Communications — emails sent and received through the platform (e.g. proposals, confirmations, inbox replies) and their delivery status.
- Usage analytics — aggregated, privacy-friendly metrics about how pages are used (see “Cookies & analytics” below).
- Technical data — IP address, device, and browser, used transiently to operate, secure, and measure the service.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- provide and operate the service and the venue features described above;
- send transactional email (sign-in links, proposals, confirmations, replies);
- process payments and record balances;
- secure the service, prevent abuse, and debug issues;
- understand aggregate usage so we can improve the product.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for cross-site advertising.
Cookies & analytics
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. It is required for the app to function and is not used for advertising.
For usage measurement we use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not collect personally identifying information or track you across sites. It counts page views and visits using anonymized, aggregated signals (a short-lived hash derived from request data, then discarded) — no persistent identifier is stored.
Service providers (sub-processors)
We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run Marquee:
- Vercel — application hosting, web analytics, and file storage for attachments.
- Supabase — the application database.
- Postmark — sending and receiving email.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- ImprovMX — email forwarding for venue addresses.
Each provider processes data under its own agreement and only as needed to deliver its part of the service.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as a venue’s account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. A venue can delete records within the app; when an account is closed, we delete or anonymize associated data within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we do neither). If a venue holds your data as its client or vendor, contact that venue first; we will support them in honoring your request. You can also reach us directly using the contact below, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Security
We protect data with encryption in transit, database-level tenant isolation (Row-Level Security), access controls, and least-privilege practices. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to address issues promptly.
Children
Marquee is a business tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
